Der Löwe Burgberg

Challenge
Der Löwe Burgberg runs a hotel and a restaurant in the Allgäu, in Bavaria, where the mountains draw as many visitors as the hotel itself. With Ohaey, a German creative agency, we had to create the effect of a hotel brochure, make people want a room and a dinner, without looking like one. Length was the constraint: pages that unroll a lot of content and have to hold the reader all the way to the booking button.
Approach
Everything was decided on the inner pages rather than on the home page. With Ohaey, we broke each long page into sequences and treated the scroll as a storyline: what appears, in what order, at what speed. We tuned each section on its own, then replayed the whole sequence, because a long page is judged by how one part follows another more than by any single effect.
Key solutions
Custom WordPress theme, in German and English. The hotel manages its rooms, the restaurant menu and its offers. Booking goes through the hotel booking engine, which we embedded in an iframe and restyled so it doesn’t clash with the rest of the site. Most of the work went into the inner pages, long and dense: every section comes into motion (scroll reveals, page transitions, animated sequences) to hold attention all the way down.
