Epok Design
Development and motion design: Eric Huguenin
Honorable Mention
Challenge
Since 2009, Epok Design has created identities and printed objects for Moët Hennessy, the Grand Palais, LVMH and Université Gustave Eiffel, from Paris and Rennes. Their work is judged by holding it as much as by looking at it: the paper, the finishing, the binding of a catalog. A screen loses that material quality. We had to replace it with a rhythm and a motion that show the same attention to detail.
Approach
Epok Design handed us its identity rather than finished mockups. We translated its typographic system and its use of white space, designed for paper, into screen rules: scales, margins, scroll behavior. We validated each template on real projects from their portfolio, never on dummy content, the only way to check that the grid held whatever the work shown.
Key solutions
Custom WordPress theme, editable from end to end: the studio publishes its projects and builds its pages without us. Projects open from a slider and unfold as modular pages, alternating full width and columns depending on the work shown. We wrote the motion for the studio’s identity, with clean, slightly dry transitions, closer to the language of their printed editions than to the web’s usual reflexes. The site is available in several languages.
